Location:

Human Sciences Research Council - Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town (HSRC Video Conferencing Rooms VCRs)

Presenter:

Dr Michael Rogan, Rhodes University

Chair:

Dr Glenda Kruss, Human Sciences Research Council

About this seminar:

The speaker will discuss the results of a tracer study that surveyed graduates from two universities in the Eastern Cape. The study aimed to identify some of the key factors that predicted whether and how university graduates in South Africa find employment.

This seminar focuses, in particular, on how factors such as schooling background, race and gender are associated with study choices and unemployment. The findings have important implications for equity and for the efficiency of higher education institutions. In considering some of the key findings, the presentation will conclude with a discussion of potential policy responses and the implications for equity in higher education.

The HSRC seminar series is funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST). The views and opinions expressed therein as well as findings and statements of the seminar series do not necessarily represent the views of DST.
