The workshop will explore South African and international experiences in developing scarce skills lists, as well as different methods that have been used to estimate scarce skills needs. There will be high quality presentations by Prof Hoosen Rasool and Dr Marcus Powell. As we indicated in our previous invitation email, this workshop is linked to the Labour Market Intelligence Partnership (LMIP) which is a major joint research initiative of the DHET and the HSRC led consortium to develop a ‘credible institutional mechanism for skills planning’.
