Preston Lee Govindasamy is a recipient of a bursary from the Education and Skills Development unit at the HSRC. The bursary allowed him to undertake a Masters degree at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, an experience he describes as both a challenging and exciting.
Govindasamy’s dissertation, 'Computer literacy, employment and earnings, : A cross-sectional study on South Africa using the National Income Dynamics Study 2008' broadly indicates that individuals who are/were most marginalised in society are less likely to be computer literate, consistent with findings elsewhere that disparities in computer literacy are simply an extension of the inequality that already exists in society.
